Land Rover Breakdown Rescue Repair Belgium

At the beginning of December 2007 I drove from the south-west of England to Poland in my Land Rover Discovery. On route my previously very reliable 300 tdi Land Rover Discovery started to have problems on the motorway around 6 kms east of the ferry port in Dunkerque, France. Temperature gauge off the scale; a suddenly juddering engine; rapidly slowing speed; and grey smoke bellowing from the exhaust. I pulled off the motorway at the next exit for a look. Unfortunately, it seemed like a major problem - certainly not one which could be fixed while parked in a SNCF (French Railways) car park! Fortunately, a new Landy club member from Belgium, Wouter Tyberghien (assisted by his friend 'Snoopy'), came to the rescue. They arrived with a trailer and towed me off the motorway; supplied all the necessary spare parts; and worked until the early hours of the morning at Wouter's home workshop to replace the Discovery's cylinder head. Thanks to Wouter, the car now runs better than ever! Here are some photographs taken of my French / Belgium adventure. Pass your mouse over each picture to see a description of each picture.
